Script Synopsis V5

What I am here for...

Our universal now as fiction. This is not a story, rather our shared situation presented as entertaining lies.

The entire story here for feeling the flow

Maybe describe only just what is seen and heard, and link to the scaffold concepts. The novelization.

"Make sure you’re telling the story to the reader, not talking to yourself for 150+ pages. If you make sure your visuals are still about the characters and the events of your script, then it will be difficult to stray too far from good writing."

"When indicating a shot or a camera angle, the reader is pulled from the story. For example, “if you write TRACK ON, does the reader see a film flowing through his imagination? No. He now sees a film being made” (McKee, 1997, p. 383). Calling shots in a spec script is like breaking the fourth wall; breaking the suspension of disbelief by referring to the filmmaking process."

Opening title: This is not a story...

(echoes of "based on a true story" with a surrealist slant. "This is not a pipe". Recursion, and implication is that this is an actuality, this is the Real. Lie, of course it's a story. No, it's not.)

Why Prelude?

√ Scene • Road River - Near Here, Almost Now

Joe teaches oral history to the future, the start of a fairy tale, Once Upon a Time.

(I don't remember what this was about exactly, maybe more detail will show up. Joe sets the foundation of the world? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Maybe something like that?)

Armor staging area at Nuke Waste Repository, Joe's secret hideout.

Exterior

An eerie scene of carnage from a battle long ago. Almost too errie, the carnage seems stylistically arranged, almost as if a monorail of tourists might pass overhead at any moment. Abandoned tanks, humvees and fuel trucks are surrounded by skeletons and logistical paraphenalia. Lively and discordant graphics flash on the surfaces of the vehicles. Dire warnings of radiation contamination are pulsed by blue strobe lights, perhaps have been for hundreds of years. The entire ensemble is centered around the improbable blasted doors of a Nuclear Waste Repository. Something pushed those doors out with great force, partiall melting them and vitrifying the surrounding rock wall in the process. Perhaps DU minitions, a balrog? Who can say?

[Foreground close-up of transport tire, perhaps cracked semi flat, oxidized. Background, indistinct shapes of armor, etc. Mediatronics, a few dead birds. Slight breeze rustles prayer flags snagged on the tanks, American flag.on the ground, billowing. Whip antennaes swaying in breeze. Wind emenates from tunnel? Uniform scraps around skeletons.]
