they both know what they are talking about, it's really just the audience we have to remind
but the audience has seen these scenes, so they don't so much need to be reminded as to have their minds expanded about what was actually going on.

cabin story from the boxes point of view

totally (getting excited)
before Christina shows up, Gerry and the boxes have a few minutes to talk
while Gerry and Christina are getting to know each other, the boxes are making fun of her
and commenting on her behind her back
Gerry might be able to see this, he's trying hard NOT to see what the boxes are saying
C throws the boot, his reaction works because the box reacts to that like WTF

the surfaces of the boxes Christina can see is the typical hi I'm a love potion box, here's an ad...
the side she can't see is where the boxes will be talking to Gerry

the boxes she can see are making fun of her in a subtle way (that she doesn't catch on to)

at that point they are more primitive
they haven't expanded out to the billions of boxes

she can be more silly and less subtle in her comments
we bring the boxes in as characters early on
Gerry is off balance in this scene... until he asks Christina - why me?
when he does that, he is able to ignore the boxes more and focus on - why is she here?

multiple boxes in the room, the one's she can see are gonna show relief images, the one's he can see are potentially multi... not all boxes are lit up the same?

a message can move from one box down a whole line of boxes

or there can be multiple thoughts on different boxes

the box, what is her reaction to Gerry and Christina, jealousy

after a 3 day hacking session, sentience happens

so they are suspicious of her and also like

i think it's funny, they are just learning - even anything
and there's this opinion that shoots out about her makeup

is the Box connected to all the knowledge like the internet

they are the Clique's replacement for the internet

so they have access to the total history of the world?

this is a one way thing, like old school TV
the boxes can use the network to communicate to the people
but the people can't use the network to talk to each other
a giant repository of archival stuff

is there way that works, are there camera

normal boxes painted with liquid computation, as it cures it forms cameras, microphones, screen elements and processors, everything except speakers
black and white because the black can collect light and store power, which is what energizes

it can hear?

if the process had kept going there might have been a color version that could make sound

are we going to animating boxes before Gerry colonized them with fungus?
could be fun - advertising could change depending on what people talk about

the only place that would make sense...
the boxes that Christina could see could be influenced by what they talking about, with ads about what they are talking about
fake ads for fake products to tease Christina without her knowing about it

do the Clique try to quell wrong thinking with advertisements?

boxes break the fourth wall and introduce themselves to the audience
we're the boxes etc and then hey wait, someone is spying on us, we gotta wake up Gerry, hey Gerry!
then the scene cuts
the boxes are already conscious
a entity that exists only in Gerry's cabin that blocks out the rest of the mediatronic ubiquity
[upon awakening into sentience, a distinction would immediately be apparent between self (Gerry's cabin boxes) and other (mediatronic ubiquity) and 'cell walls' would be instinctively established to lock in that separation. happens BEFORE Joe peeks, upon awakening, the surveillance nature of the network is immediately intuited]
not block but filter what's going out to the ubiquity so the ubiquity doesn't sense this tiny mote of uniqueness, alien entity, otherness.
we're not the same as that out there, so we have to protect ourselves

metaphor for the mind and body work, consciousness is seperate

yes that's the paradigm (dominant culture) put out there
their body and their consciousness is the same thing - fungus and mediatronics combined, so what they are IS consciousness
