Perhaps use 1/6 scale figures for the actors. So much detailed 1/6 gear available now. Slight movement, they are in silhouette anyway. Super minimal, see the frost from their breathe in the harsh lights, the rocket itself is lit from below. Not sure how to handle the slave laborer, and what is she doing?
This would I could assemble the figures and costumes cheap, and there might be stop action work with their movements, or perhaps puppeting or both. It could be like a child’s play, A child’s imagination so were not really quite sure what we are seeing. The beginnings of the space program, the first projectile to reach outer space.
