"Plural as a spiritual perception, eg we are all one?" This doesn't convey the idea of plurality.  A sphere, perhaps the moon with a dark and light side seperate along the terminator (shadow). The top becomes a mushroom cap with gills and a stem, the bottom blinks and becomes an eye. Alternately, the sphere opens to reveal religious symbols like spores. This idea might be applicable elsewhere as the layers of meaning don't really support the dialog pair.
